Want a creative way to make geography a part of your kid’s everyday life? How about hanging a map in a place they see every day? But not just any old map! Check out these ideas to make map lampshades & pendant lights. And even better, it doesn’t cost much. You just need a bit of creative energy and know-how.
Since I’m in the middle of writing Year 2 of the Let’s Go Geography curriculum, instructions for both of these projects are coming from elsewhere. These are awesome ideas!
First up are the pendant lights made from world globes. This looks to be the more challenging of the 2 projects, but still very doable. And you can make 2 pendant lights out of a single world globe. Check your local thrift or vintage stores if you don’t have a globe at home to cut apart.
Sometimes it can be helpful to have several viewpoints, so here are links from 2 different blogs:

And then my personal favorite, the lampshade made out of maps–the regular, flat maps. Just one link for that one:
If you make either of these, please let us know how it went in the comments section!
